Laos is a state in South-East Asia, bordered by China to the North, Vietnam to the East, Cambodia to the South and Burma and Thailand to the West. The Laotian economy is based on agriculture, the country’s principal source of wealth, accounting for 52% of GDP. After rice, the country’s main product is timber. Laos also possesses attractive mining and energy resources (gold, copper, tin, coal, iron ore …) and tourism has become a very promising sector, with its share of revenue increasing from 4th to 2nd place since 1995.
SDV Laos was established in 1998 in Vientiane, the capital of the country, in order to be at the heart of economic activity. In response to increasing activity, SDV Lao expanded with the opening of an office in Thakhek in 2001 to meet the needs of the furniture export industry and in anticipation of the imminent start of work on a major hydroelectric project. This was followed, in 2002, by the opening of an office in Savannakhet to meet the needs of a mining project with which SDV Laos is closely associated. These strategic locations enable us to be closer to you and to provide you with high-quality services for all-round satisfaction.
